Fergusson College was started in the year 1885 under the aegis of the Deccan Education Society. Named after its first patron, Sir James Fergusson who had donated a then princely sum of Rs.1200/-, this college is now under the jurisdiction of the University of Pune. The main sections of Fergusson College campus include the Main Building, the Amphitheatre, the Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Electronics and Economics Departments, the Wrangler R.P. Paranjpye building, the Gymkhana, the Canteen, Kimaya and its latest addition, the New Academic Complex. A famous feature of Fergusson College is "Kimaya", a popular student hangout built just behind the library. It is shaped like a house of cards, with V-shaped walls on all four sides.
